We went to James's friend Alex's pool party tonight, and James LOVED it! He wasn't so sure about the pool last summer, but I think he's come around!

Father's Day

John was a good sport in wearing James's Father's Day gift today!

I went to work today, so John and James hung out at Abi and Grandpa's. James and Grandpa Al had matching hats for the occasion.

Kinder Music

We went to a kids' concert this morning at the library featuring Brian and Susan Kinder, local celebrities with the pre-K set. James is still perfecting his M.O. with the ladies. Right now it consists of approaching and staring! It's generally the level of flirting skills that his dad showed when we first met:)

Picnic at the park

John, James and I had a picnic in the park this evening with Eve, Colin, Nicole and Abbey. It was so much fun! Here are some highlights:

Brooke and Sadie

James and I hung out in the park with Brooke and baby Sadie this afternoon. James seemed more interested in the camera than the baby, but he did pat her and play with her toes a few times.

Stroller Strides

We've been going to Stroller Strides classes since James was about 4 months old. They're mostly a work-out for the moms...

but kiddos get to chat and interact, and then play in the park at the end.

James seems to have developed a fear of dogs, which I hope he grows out of!

Happy Hour

James and I joined some friends for Happy Hour this evening:)

James talked up a topless Abbey, while casually showing some plastic. Abbey didn't seem too offended by his advances! [Sorry Mike!]

Baby's Day Out

While Mom went to work, Daddy took James to play at at Lee-Ann's and Declan's neighbors' backyard wonderland! Bouncing was the favorite activity of the day.

James kept his cool during the tornado warning this afternoon. He seemed unphased by hanging out in the closet!

Playdate

James had a playdate this morning with his buddy, Andrew. The main event was a cutthroat, winner-takes-all, take-no-prisoners game of Connect 4. Luckily, they were both so strong on defense that the game ended in a tie!

The Reader

James loves books, and we spend part of every day reading. Lately, he's gotten quite independent, and will read on his own. First he chooses his book carefully...

Then he kicks back in his rocker to read!

Playing with Grandpa Al

James spent the day with Abi and Grandpa today while mom went to work. His cement mixer came in handy in securing some loose stones on the Galileo Galilei Memorial Rock Wall!

Barnes and Noble

The bookstore is one of our favorite rainy day haunts. The Thomas the Train Table is almost as big as James's trainset at Abi and Grandpa's!

Hide and Seek is one of James's favorite games right now, and he finds a way to play everywhere!

While at B&N, we encountered a brother and sister playing 'Big Bad Wolf.' James clearly wanted to play with them and the little girl said: 'I guess he can be a pig.' James graciously accepted, and they all played happily till the big kids had to leave.

Cards for Gigi

James heard that Gigi was hosting her Bridge group today and decided to brush up on his game. Alas, some of the finer points still elude him!

Afternoon stroll

James and I went for a 4-mile walk over the bridge with friends Lee-Ann and Declan this afternoon. If you think the boys look skeptical now, you should have seen them around mile 3!
