I'm usually the first one to go in and get James in the mornings. Now that he has a gate on his door, it's usually closed, so he can't leave his room till we open it in the morning. He does a good job communicating he's awake--'talking,' rattling the gate or banging his window blinds. This is usually long before my alarm goes off which leads to the question of why I bother setting an alarm in the first place, but I digress. We usually go straight to the kitchen/living room to make breakfast and play. However, on mornings when John goes to free James from his room, James immediately leads John back to the bedroom, 'puts' John back to bed, comes around to my side of the bed and drags my feet to the floor. John's 'positive' spin on this is that James prefers me, but I have another take on it. 'No no Daddy, you rest. My maid will come and make me breakfast!' James knows what's going on around here.
Sometimes it stinks to be the favorite!
